This plate started as a slab thrown on the wheel, and placed to dry on a plaster mold for a bit. When it was hard enough to handle, I attached a coil foot, and started on the design. The swirl in this piece came about from cutting the slab off the wheel. I knew I wanted spaceships, but wasn't sure of what to do with the swirl at this point...
